SqueakNOS is back!
On SqueakPeople, Gerardo Richarte reports that the SqueakNOS - Squeak No Operating System - project is back on the move.
It turns out that since the last demo, some 5 years ago, some people have been silently working on the project, basically restarting from scratch, and ending up with a bit more. Not really useable at the moment (the lack of mouse and keyboard support spoils the fun), but it runs under VMWare which probably makes further development a lot easier.
I seriously think that this is an interesting OS research project. Think about Squeak-E running on bare metal. Fast, secure, turtles all the way down to the registers and interrupts.

Hi!
The people working on SqueakNOS is the original SqueakNOS team, and in fact they were not silently working, they just restarted a month ago
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that keyboard, mouse and serial port support is really working now. We hope to release a new .iso in less than a week (before May 29th).
stay tuned!
