Kilt-Wearing Teen Seeks Dress Code Change
Spotted in Forbes.com, school officials seem to be less than amused when kids want to show their heritage at high school dances (or just want to wear skirts for the heck of it).
“To say the traditional Scottish dress makes you look like a clown is a direct insult to people of Scottish heritage and those who live in Scotland,” said Tom Wilson, a Texas commissioner for the Clan Gunn Society of North American, a Scottish heritage organization.
Yup. Besides, who cares what people wear as long as it is clear that they did their best to make themselves presentable?
C’mon, people, kilts are cool!

Hmm. It doesn’t look so strange to me. I mean, it isn’t a puffy pink skirt or anything. I find it hard to believe that anyone who hasn’t lived under a rock all his life won’t immediate recognize that as a traditional Scottish outfit.

i am a boy and always want to wear a skirt, they are the most comfortable garment ever. i am currently writing this while wearing a denim mini skirt. boys should be allowed to wear skirts and kilts to school, girls can, so why can’t boys

I am 16 and I always had to wear kilts on Sundays and holidays because my mom liked to see me in kilts. When I was younger I hated wearing “skirts” because no other boy in the family wore those and I felt I looked like a girl especially because I mostly didn’t have a sporran and even had to wear tights under my kilts in winter. Now I like them, in fact I agree with George, skirts are really more comfortable than pants. I wear kilts now very often, some of my “kilts” are in fact girl’s skirts which my mom got for me because real kilts are so expensive. I wear my real kilts on Sundays to church and on holidays. My “kilted skirts” (thats what my mom calls them) I wear casually on weekdays. My girlfriend likes me in skirts and kilts and sometimes I wear them to school too.

it’s great to wear kilts but there is one condition when U want not to look stupid: the kilt must be high quality. it is not an ordinary jeans or t-shirt. wearing kilt always remember about tradition. U can use kilt hire just in case.

Boys should be able to have the same freedom as girls. If girls can wear pants; then boys should be able to wear skirts or dresses.

I am a full blooded scot. I wear kilts every chance I get. Get a life loosers. There is noting wrong with kilts. If girls can wear pants: boys should be allowed to wear dresses or skirts.

I agree. If girls can wear pants then boys should be able to wear skirts and dresses I wear skirts and dresses all the time.
I did away with all my pants a year ago. The girls love to see me dress up in long flowing skirts.

This is the decade of fashion freedom, the decade that men are finally starting to wear skirts and everyday kilts openly, incorporating them into their wardrobe. And there is no reason they shouldn’t. Every person should be able to choose freely every day between garments with or without separate leg holes.

Why not wear skirts. I have an old pair of cut-off that ripped. Trimed them up a bit into a jean skirt and liked it. Went to a store and bought some more skirts. Caught some hell from some buddies but l spend allot of time in a skirt. Skirts aare 10 times better in the sumer.

I started wearing kilts about fifteen years ago and boy do I love it. I also now purchase and wear men’s skirts but I want them to look something like the kilt. It is just plain stupid to allow females the joy of wearing anything they wish and the poor male is forever sentenced to wear boring trousers until the day he dies. I think God place in all of us the spirit of variety . You people who cringe at males wearing skirted garments are so rooted in male stereotype and ensalved in fear of your maleness that you are to be pitied. Men’s skirts are pleasant, provides an air of sheer freedom and just plain fun to wear. they are soooooooooo cool

I am 67 years old…though most people believe I am still in my fifties…..but as for dress…….theree is no doubt that a Skirt just above the knee is most pleasant to wear…and I wear them every day…even going into town…
into shops…to airfields…and even abroad on business..
Whilst people look twice…generally they are extremely supportive and I have lost count of the numerous aquaintances and conversations that people have struck up with me…. It’s about time pregudice and ‘what will people think’ was thrown out of the window !! My wife wears trousers…but still she does not feel happy out with me…so I change for her!

Hey all, browsed the internet and guess this would be the best place to post my question:
I would like to wear a kilt sometimes, because they are majorly cool and are different from the rest - but I am Dutch. According to some friends I shouldn’t because it’s traditionally Scottish. I didn’t choose to be Dutch did I?
Anyone that can give me their opinion? Perhaps the Daniël (isn’t it a great name?
) can give his opinion as a scotsman?

I own two Utilikilts, and wear one every time I’m off work. I have a few “women’s” skirts that I really like. I wear tights out in public, also. Noone notices my tights/leggings, which suits me fine, but when I wear a Kilt or a skirt, the coolest women ‘light-up’ and always say “NICE LEGS” or something just as heartwarming!
I LOVE wearing skirts, and tights too….I LOVE women…but men always wore skirts, and tights TOO, up until the last 2 centuries of STUPID, BORING ridiculous “fashion”. Baggy trousers are for retards. Anyway girls mostly wear so-called “men’s” clothes all the time—so why can’t guys who are fit wear short skirts and tights?
