A9home - computers can also be like this

The A9home by Advantage6 is the latest and greatest in RiscOS land. I personally never have used RiscOS, but Acorn was something special back when they invented a whole new machine (you know, the time that everyone could make his own processor…), and the people who like the RiscOS/ARM combination haven’t stopped.

What I like best, writing this on a 3.2GHz P4HT laptop that doubles as a room heater, is this bit:

2-3W average internal power usage

And no, they didn’t leave out any zeroes. The little blue brick comes with a hugely oversized 20W supply (my laptop with a 130W one, I use it as cupwarmer), mainly to be able to supply enough juice to the USB ports.

It’s a pity that they don’t have any volume. That’s make the computer more expensive than a Mac Mini. Otherwise, this really would be a nice thing to have….

I went to their website, looked around, clicked the “developers” link: they want me to sign up before they show me the stuff. How quaint.
