Feature-wise, the FR-I is probably the closest to Contax RTS. It
looks like Yashica was affraid that if the two cameras were too
similar, the RTS price and sales might suffer, so FR-I shutter
speed range was reduced -- easy to do since this shutter is
electronic.

Most 50/2 lenses are cheaper, lesser, single-coated lenses geared
to the student/amateur market (see Minolta MD 50/2, SMC Pentax 50/2,
etc.). The Yashica ML 50/1.4 is much closer to the Zeiss T* 50/1.4
in performance (and in price!).
