To Digest Or Not

Hi all,

A small administrative remark: I initially fixed the Digest format (where you
get a whole collection of mails once or twice a day) to protect my poor old
box against a possible great success of the list - the list processing
software, Majordomo, takes quite a toll on the machine it's running on and a
Digest is easier on the software than a normal mailing list.

Currently, the software makes a digest when one of these conditions is true:
- A message older than 24 hours is in the queue;
- The messages in the queue will produce a digest of over 500 lines;
- The messages in the queue will produce a digest of over 40000 bytes.
All of this, of course, is completely tunable. But it will likely result in a
single Digest per day.

It seems that the subscription rate is at a level my system can cope with. So
if people would rather receive every mail in real-time (ie., get subscribed to
the normal mailing list), I'm willing to move them over - just drop me a note
and you'll be removed from the digest and added to the normal mailing list.
Note however, that I cannot guarantee that you will stay on the list: if the
load caused by the mailing list becomes too high, I'll have to revert to
digest-only mode.

Regards

Cees
